LGC’s History

LGC began in 1987, when Tom Lincoln and Randy Gustafson left their former firm to start their own partnership. LGC was then known as Lincoln & Gustafson, working primarily on insurance defense cases for several insurers. As the firm’s reputation for superior work grew, so did the firm’s caseload, which led to the firm hiring several associates. One of those associates was Ted Cercos, who was hired in April of 1988. Ted proved to be an outstanding associate, and an even better partner. Ultimately, the firm became Lincoln, Gustafson & Cercos in April of 1993.

In those early years, LGC employed just a handful of attorneys working out of a single location in San Diego. In the more than 25 years since the firm’s founding, LGC grew steadily, hiring some of the best and brightest associates and staff to meet LGC’s expanding client needs. Today, LGC has offices in California, Nevada, and Arizona, with 10 partners and 20 associates.

As LGC’s size expanded, so did its experience in various practice areas. From its origins handling mostly insurance defense litigation, LGC evolved into a full-service law firm able to provide legal assistance to businesses and individuals in virtually any area of civil law. We are panel counsel for numerous insurers, as well as personal counsel for many well-known clients and businesses. LGC uses its experience and integrity to strive to achieve superior results for our clients in every matter we handle.

LGC continues to grow and expand, as it has since 1987, so as our clients grow and diversify, we are prepared to provide whatever legal services our clients need. While the firm may grow, we will never lose sight of our emphasis on experience, integrity and results – values that have been at the heart of the firm for more than a quarter century.
